Switch and Voice Control in a Single Unit
Quartet’s Voice & Switch Activated ECU allows the widest range of possibilities to our clients. It combines features from both the Simplicity Switch and Simplicity Voice ECUs. The Simplicity All-in-One is ideal for the voice that changes by the end of the day or for when a cold or respiratory infection has changed the quality of your voice.
As with all Quartet ECUs, a simple predictable menu system and audible feedback ensure quick training.
A COMPLETE, INTEGRATED SYSTEM
The only key items not included in the basic system are user-specific components which cannot be preselected namely, the input switch and possibly a Bed/Hospital Adapter. The components included in the basic system are listed below.
The Simplicity All-In-One does not require a personal computer to operate, program, or train.
The system is usually operated by a dual switch (sip and puff, rocker, finger, tongue, etc.), although two single switches can be used via a Y connector adapter. Attendants can use the two switches on the unit’s front panel. Many healthcare providers consider switch activation to be a more reliable means of input/control than voice-activated systems.
CONFIGURABLE TO INDIVIDUAL PREFERENCES
Using the configure menu, an attendant can:
Set the user’s control of hospital/homecare beds and facility room lights and television.
Set the scan speed of the unit.
Choose whether speech feedback is heard.
Choose whether the user wants access to the auxiliary port and infrared.
MULTI-LEVEL CONTROL MENUS
The top-level menu has sub-menus for:
SPEECH SCANNING PROVIDES BOTH VISUAL AND VOICE FEEDBACK
Using a recorded human voice, the unit speaks each menu item as it is scanned on the LCD display. Users can (and often do) operate the system just using these voice prompts which is especially useful for the visually impaired.
BATTERY BACKUP WITH CONTINUOUS CHARGING
The Simplicity All-In-One has an internal battery charger which keeps the battery charged when the system is plugged in. When AC power is lost or interrupted, the system automatically switches to battery power and the green LEDs on the fronts of the main unit and the display unit will flash. When configured for a healthcare facility, the system’s nurse call automatically activates after five minutes of battery operation as a courtesy notification to nursing personnel. When the battery is completely run down, the nurse call is activated in a latched mode that ensures the nurse or other attendant is notified.
HOSPITAL FACILITY CONTROLS
A Nurse Call feature is the first item on the main menu. Using the optional Imperium 200AA Bed/Hospital Room Adapter, the user can control both the reading light and room light. The Simplicity All-In-One operates either hardwired hospital TVs (using the I-200AA adapter) or remote controlled hospital TVs (using the ONE FOR ALL 6 infrared remote).
HOSPITAL/HOMECARE BED CONTROL
Standard hospital/homecare bed adjustments are easily controlled through the Simplicity All-In-One menus, using the optional Imperium 200AA Bed/Hospital Room Adapter. The six adjustments are: bed up/down, head up/down, and foot up/down. At the discretion of the user’s attendant, any or all individual bed adjustments may be disabled.
INTERCHANGEABLE WITH DIFFERENT HOSPITAL/HOMECARE BEDS AND SWITCHES
Of special value in a healthcare facility, the Simplicity All-In-One can be moved to different beds or accept different switches as needed for new patients.
TIME AND DATE DISPLAY CAN BE SET BY THE USER.
The user can control the system volume. If headphones are being used, the system speaker can be turned off.
EASY TO LEARN AND USE
The multi-level nested control menus are intuitively organized.
USABLE IN BOTH HOSPITALS AND HOMES
A patient who learns to use an Simplicity All-In-One in a healthcare facility can get a system for home use, easing the hospital-to-home transition.
